Creative Reflection

This original composition was created completely in Photoshop CS3 as a creative exercise to familiarize myself with some of the new features. In using some previous compositions as elements in the design, my intent was to showcase these previous works in a unique way. Additionally, this was also submitted as a creative composition for one of my classes this term. Overall time spent on this project was around 10 – 12 hours, but this factors in everything from conceptualizing to completion of the finalized work.

Branches Over Water

This image was taken in Chicago, looking out onto Lake Michigan from a lake front park. Post processing in Photoshop included some layer masks, filters, and color balance adjustments.

Natures Canvas

I took this image of the early morning sky the other day and the following composition is the result. Not too much post processing here, as the colors and levels have only been optimized slightly to create some additional contrast and balance. The sky can most assuredly make for an interesting artistic canvas and I feel this is reflected here. The comp is very subtle and light, but offers just enough visual presence.

Prairie View

I took this image on the way home from work a couple days ago and was inspired to create, so the following is a result of said inspiration. It is a bit abstract, but it was an interesting end result I think. Also, the original image can be viewed on my Flickr photostream if you would like to compare and contrast the two.

Hard Rock Indy

I was in Indianapolis this weekend with family and happened to take an image I liked of the Hard Rock Cafe downtown. After having the chance to view the image I again decided to have a little fun with Photoshop. So the end result is a combination of some filters, effects, and colorizing simply to add a different graphical perspective. I used some similar techniques to that of the Rustic Chicago Composition I did a while back. Also, the original image can be viewed on my Flickr photostream.
