First off, I recently received my repaired Xbox 360 from Microsoft this past week. This is good news for sure and surprisingly the repair time was only around 3 weeks from start to finish. I have been playing on the recently repaired 360 for the past 3 days and so far all is well. And now onto what I have been playing.

Alright, over the past month or so I have finished up Orange Box on the 360 which is by far one of the greatest series or compilations of games ever released. It was amazingly cool to be able to play through all these great games in succession and rekindle that Half-Life flame yet again. And if you have not played Portal and Team Fortress 2 yet, you are definitely missing out on some good times.

I have not posted anything gaming related in a while, but I have been playing some games here and there. Most recently I finally finished Bioshock which was an amazing game by the way. But you probably already knew that! This is a surreal action/role playing/FPS game that is set in the 1950’s with plenty of visual appeal, amazing audio, strong game play mechanics, and good story telling which fully define this cinematic gaming experience.

Yesterday was the big day as Gears of War was released and “Emergence Day” was finally realized by gamers everywhere or almost everywhere, as the game will be hitting retailers throughout the coming week. I was able to spend some quality time with the game last night as a friend and I began to tackle the coop campaign that just has to be played to be appreciated fully. This is a no-holes-barred game where run and gun will get you no where fast, but where teamwork and a little luck will draw you into this visceral gaming experience. There is still much more to accomplish as we have only made it through Act 1 in the game and I see a few late nights in our future finishing up the campaign mode.

It had been a while since I’d done any sort of PC gaming as my Xbox 360 has been keeping me busy for the past 9 months or so. To make a long story short, I picked up Half-Life 2 (Game of the Year Edition) this past Friday and have been playing it quite a bit this past weekend. I know that game has been out for almost 2 years or so now, but with my recent upgrades to my PC (more memory/dual-core processor) I decided to give it a go and the price was right at Best Buy. I also picked up Half-Life 2: Episode 1 on sale as well, so I can continue the Half-Life 2 experience after finishing up this stunning sequel.
