Chicago Skyline Stylization

The “Chicago Skyline Stylization” was essentially a stab in the dark, as this just sort of happened from playing in Photoshop. The right mix of filters, add some layer blending, then some brush work, and the result presents itself. I actually did this a while back and never posted it, but it is here now for your viewing pleasure.

Do you have any other pictures of the skyline stylized in that manner? Possibly some closer up images such as the thumbnail that shows up above, but that thumbnail int he 1280 x 720 size area. I am going to be getting a tattoo done and i really like your skyline picture or something similar as a sleeve.

Dean, I have added some close up views above in the 1280 x 720 format. Hopefully these will help you out with what you are looking for as a point of reference for your tattoo. Take care and thanks for the comment.

Chris, Thank you very much. I think the view two will work out perfectly. I really wanted to incorporate the sears tower and i think that one would wrap around perfect. Thank you very much. I dont know if you took the photo that this stylization came from, but it looks awesome. Really captures Chicago, just as the rest of your pictures do. Born and raised there, and Chicago is definitely my favorite city in the country. Thanks again.

Glad I was able to assist you with some images that will work for you. And I did take the photo that eventually became the stylization, so thanks for the compliments. I have always been in the Chicago area all my life as well, in the suburbs, and it is a great city for sure. Good luck with that tattoo…

    Chris,

Im back… I was wondering if you had the original photo before the stylization was applied. I had a few effects of my own that i wanted to try on the skyline picture if you will allow it. Just wanted to see what else I could possibly do for a similar effect, but the picture is still the perfect skyline photo that i want to use. Other than that it is up to money and me finding time to get it done.

    Thanks,
    Dean

Hi. I am looking for something just like this only of Milwaukee. Is this something you do for other cities or just a piece of work - that you solely focus on Chicago. Honestly, I am looking to get a tattoo but am having a hard time finding a good picture of Milwaukee to work off of. And I LOVE what you have done for Chicago in this print!

Thanks for your time in advance!

    Becky

Becky, this was just one piece that I did based off a photo I had taken of the city from the lake. So essentially if was just a single piece that I did for fun, which is to be said of most all the work I post here on my blog. If I had a hi-resolution image to work from I could probably do something similar for another city as well.

    Chris,
    Nice Work!!!

I noticed your work while searching for a graphic of the Chicago skyline for a project I am working on.

I am restoring a vintage corvette race car from the 70’s. It was sponsored by a Chevrolet dealer in the Chicago area. The car had a graphic of the Chicago skyline on the hood painted by hand and the artist got a case of beer and a case of cigarettes for his work. Remember this was in the 70’s.

I don’t have your direct email to send you a pic. If you are interested, contact me and I can send you a picture. If you have something that works like the one posted on your site let me know.

I don’t know if you sell your work, etc. but if we can discuss and you have something that will work such as this one, we may possibly work something out. I would even put your name under the graphic…..

    Thanks,

    Mike
