Apparently it was confirmed a few days ago that J.J. Abrams will in fact be directing the upcoming Star Trek XI film. I for one find this to be good news as I feel Star Trek is ready to return to the main stream media yet again. There are few detail about the upcoming film, but supposedly the script takes place before the events of the original series and introduces us to a young Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock. With Abrams at the helm I think we should be in store for a rebirth, so to speak, of the Star Trek franchise. And I for one am looking forward to it as are many other trekkies no doubt.
It will be a long wait, but hopefully one worth while! And it is hard to believe the release will come six years after the last Star Trek feature film, Nemesis, staring the Next Generation cast. With no Star Trek series currently running, except in syndication, it will be good to have a new Star Trek feature coming the silver screen in 2008.

Great news! A few weeks ago the History channel ran the 40th anniversary special. It’s had to believe that it’s been forty years since the original series premired. Not bad for a show that was only on for only three seasons. The anniversary relived moments from all the series and featured auctions of items from the different shows. The prices were “out of this world”, there are definitely many Trekkies from many generations.
