You know sometimes it amazes me just how crazy people can be with regards to latest in gaming consoles as this article on Sci Fi.com iterates quite well. What can be said about people simply utilizing the PS3 as a means of turning a profit? I am of the opinion that if you are not purchasing a system to actually use for gaming than simply allow someone who genuinely is interested in acquiring and gaming on the system to do so. Personally I think this is the downside to auction sites as this kind of conduct often times goes on without action on the part of the manufacturers or the auction sites, but it is a free country - right?

I am sure I will be getting a PS3 at some point, just not at launch (thanks to my Xbox360). With that being said I know for sure that I would never purchase a system through EBay or any other auction site just to have a piece of electronic entertainment equipment at launch. Why anyone would spend this kind of money on a pre-order that may not even guarantee them a system at launch is totally beyond me. Then on top of this pay the $499 or $599 on top of that to actually get the system - well to each their own I guess!

I know there are diehard fanboys for all systems, but the line between common sense and support for a product should never become this blurred. Remember there is always a chance that you could pick one up from one of the big box retailers on launch day, though waiting in a line and getting up early may be involved. Well good luck to those of you who are genuinely interested in attaining a PS3 for your own use and enjoy - game on!

Update: It appears EBay has set forth some limitations with regards to both the PS3 as well as the Wii. At least doing something is better than doing nothing!
